A friend at Delves house , phoned me to tell me of the occasion when her got to know Mum a bit better. They had always said a friendly hello but not had a proper chat. He came across Mum outside the main door at Delves West , where Mum was helping another resident. The person had taken a tumble and was awaiting an ambulance to check her out. Mum , as usual had gone into crisis management mode and taken charge of the situation . She had mustered picnic chairs and blankets so the patient could be keep warm and comfortable. She then proceeded to spend the next couple of hours chatting to the patient and her family, checking on her and just chatting and making her laugh until the professionals turned up. She pulled in quite a crowd and was able to distract her in her obvious discomfort and ease her pain. Mum was great in this sort of circumstance as she was calm but also was resourceful and had so many practical skills. She was everyone's go to person.
