Gill had a diagnosis of Neuroendocrine Cancer, which is a hard form of cancer to diagnose but has some treatment options when identified early. Gill was misdiagnosed initially, which delayed her starting treatment. Medical expertise regarding Neuroendocrine Cancer is focused in specialist hospitals. Try as we might we didn't manage to get the appointment in a specialist centre until it was too late for Mum to go. In memory of Gill we are supporting Neuroendocrine Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to raising awareness and spreading knowledge amongst the medical profession as well as supporting patients with this diagnosis. They were a great help to Jo and Gill. Their work will make things easier for people like Gill by improving access to specialists leading to earlier diagnoses and hence improving prognosis for patients.
