mum knew she was dying, and one of the few things remaining on her bucket list (a busy life!) was to see skye and the highlands of Scotland.  we travelled from Euston  to Glasgow and then to Mallaig for the ferry to skye. and yes, she did sing that bloody song over and over again. after a tour of the island with possibly the world's most racist cab driver (reminded her of dad!), we went by train to Inverness and then spent a few days with jenny, one  of my oldest friends. (I meant I have known you a long time jen, but then again........) eventually we made our way home, after an overnight stay in York.  as you can imagine,, sitting opposite someone for days on end means you have to talk. not my strong point! however,  w had a really fun time, and I found out stuff about my family as she did about mine.

I was really grateful for the opportunity to make memories. I'm glad I did, otherwise my overwhelming memory would have been getting whapped round the back of the legs with a wet dishcloth for throwing a welly through the (closed) dining room window at thitd avenue. it wasn't entirely my fault - Kevin ducked!!!!
